Cataloging a collection takes time and money. It may seem like a financial expenditure for an Artist NOW, but an Artist can definitely earn that back by monetizing their collection down the road, and who doesn’t love the sound of that? But, what if we could take it a step further and not only make an Artist money, but save an Artist money too. Sounds like a win win, right?
Well here’s what happens. An Artist asks their new Assistant where a specific item is. The Assistant has no idea its whereabouts, but knows a couple possible locations based on when it was last used, worn or seen. Unfortunately the Artist also wants the item for an event the following week, so now we’ve added a time crunch. If an organized catalogue were in place, the Assistant could easily search and locate said piece at a moments notice, and then travel to or ask someone local to retrieve and send the item immediately. It should be simple, it should be easy, but it rarely is.
The Assistant now needs to play detective and track down the item, and if they do travel to a location to find it, there’s a chance it may not even be there. These types of situations happen all the time!
A catalogued collection eliminates this scenario from the equation, and saves money on not only expenses, but more importantly - team members paid time. Time they should be dedicating to other important Artist goals. So, not only is a catalogue a money maker, but it’s a huge money saver!
Until next month!
