Seeing Life with 2020 Vision

It’s a New Year and a New Decade, and with every New Year, there are resolutions.

While these external resolutions are wonderful, they also have a bit of bad timing. People start them after coming back from a long holiday break, they have mountains of extra work following vacation, and then after work they head off to the gym and have to fend off 20 other people eyeing the same open treadmill. This routine rarely lasts. People get busy, become unmotivated, and resolutions often fall short by the end of January.
While we fully support hitting the gym, we think 2020 is the year you get really focused and clear on your goals for the new decade, which is why we are shifting our focus to mental fitness. We believe that shifting your mind, your beliefs, and your habits can yield greater long term results when it comes to accomplishing goals. So this year, instead of hitting the gym, use this new year and decade to really get clarity on what you want for the next year, and the next 10 years.
What are your personal and professional goals? Where do you see yourself in the next decade? And most importantly, does your home and work environment align and support you in accomplishing these dreams?
We work with personal belongings every day, so we know first hand how a persons things and surroundings impact their daily lives. Our things can sometimes take hold of us as we look at them everyday - almost like a vision board. In some cases, our things can even be physically and emotionally draining. So, if you feel that your home or work environment may not be fully supporting your goals, it may be time to start decluttering and removing things that are no longer serving you and your future.
At Home: Do you have clutter around your house? If so, clear your space and donate. There is no time like the present, and this process will make you feel good and shift the way you view your time at home. Removing things that no longer serve you is empowering, will help you feel more organized, and it also just feels great to give things a new life and clear your space physically (and mentally) for all the wonderful things to come in the new year. In addition, if you have things that hold sentiment or are positive reinforcements for these goals, display them. Put up pictures and tokens. These will be daily reminders and positive affirmations for the universe to help you get to where you want to be.
At Work: Does your office motivate and inspire you? If you are feeling stuck at work, putting up inspiring photos or mementos from projects you’ve worked on is a great way to get the creative juices going. If you don’t have your own catalogue of career pieces to choose from, put up a diploma, a photo from graduation, or a gift from a client that has meaning and sentiment. All of these tokens are reminders of your success and all that you have accomplished. These things should be displayed and will be a daily reminder to you that you are succeeding and will help fuel you forward.
Evaluating your goals, and then determining if your surroundings are supporting these goals can help you create monumental changes by not only helping you shift the way we view YOUR world, but more importantly, shifting the way you view YOURSELF.
Until next month!
